St Leonards Golf

Mr President is currently swinging around Europe.

We had a good roll up of a dozen players given the numbers off crook or holidaying and despite the weather forecast suggesting a 40% chance of rain we only copped a couple of minutes worth. Half a dozen players took advantage of the coupons available for North Ryde costing $30 for the round with a cart. Normally it is $35 dollars for a Senior and no cart.

We had a 3 way tie for first place on 36 points and John O'Connor was declared the winner on the day on a count back. However Mr Assistant Handicapper discovered an error on his card on the Par 3 18th where he was scored a 5/3 when it should have been 5/2. As is our policy we don't ask for balls back when handed out but in accordance with the true results we do owe Buzz Holden and Andy Dessaix a ball each. Please note Mr Treasurer.

On the subject of Albert, on the Par 3 8th, normally 150 - 160 metres, but 181 metres on Friday, he made the green in 2. Excellent. However, he went on to 5 putt, with 4 of those putts being inside a foot! He did say at the time that he expected to see mention of this feat in Pres Lore.

Myself and Russell fought it out for the Bradman with 26 points each but Chris Franklin out
-Bradmanned us with 25 points to claim the ball that now goes with the Bradman.

Points of Interest

  • In accordance with paragraph three above Buzz Holden is the winner on the day with 36 points on a count back from Andy Dessaix. John O'Connor did manage to pick up 3rd spot on a count back from Grahame Curry with 35 points. The latter missed the Eagles Nest by two inches.

  • John O'Connor and Mike Willis won the Doubles with 46 points. Grahame and Chris McCann came second with 45 points.

  • Andy and Robbo are now equal leaders in the STL Shield with a 30 point lead on the next contender. That will change as more players achieve 8 games.

  • John O'Connor has established a handy 3 point lead in the Eclectic.

Our next match is at Muirfield on the 24th of May. Hope to see you all there.
